The opening intro session on Day 1 is to bring everyone up to date on where we are so far. At the end of each day there will be a session for work groups to update the wider group on what they've worked on, and where necessary this will include a sociocratic decision-making round with work groups running proposals.

Discussions

Concurrently with the working groups, there will also be the following short sessions:

  • Open source, software licenses and contributor agreements
  • Different approaches to co-operative policies
  • Co-operative structures

These will be planned spontaneously so that they're at the optimum times for people who'd like to participate :-)

Working groups

Working groups are currently being organised! Please participate in this via the forum or another channel. If you're going to run one please have as much as possible prepared in advance

Other working group suggestions:

  • General Election result: what does it mean for tech co-ops? (the election is the day before the event)
  • CoTech hack 2018 update
  • Comms and Branding
  • Governance and Membership
  • Website improvements
  • Onboarding

To contribute to this discussion the best place to start is the forum thread:

Venue

The gathering will be at Star & Shadow Cinema Co-Op, Warwick St, Newcastle, NE2 1BB. It has full disabled access, and a vegetarian/vegan cafe which will hopefully be open depending on volunteer availability. There is a car park, I will find out its capacity and update this page. It's a 10-minute walk from Jesmond and Manors metro stations, and bus number 1 stops right outside the door, which you can get from the stop outside Mile Castle (street over from Central Station)

Star & Shadow is a co-op owned and ran by its volunteers in the interests of the community. Volunteers organise a wide range of events, which range from techno nights, accessible community football competitions and an anarchist book-fair, to the regular film screenings, cafe and library

Car Parking is available for our use for free over the weekend (Thursday evening - Saturday evening). Beware! It's a small car park with limited spaces
