Naming the Network

Discussion

Participants: Joaquim, Amil. Jannik, Constance, Allen, Rich, Alex W, Tom, John, Felix, Matt C (and sorry if I missed you out)

We did not take any minutes as we wanted to reserve some names in case everyone hated these. That being said, here is a breakdown of the names we provided as options and what their meaning was.

Cooperative Technologists

Self explanatory but worth noting that the benefits of this name are that it can be shortened (CoTech(s)) and that it is also clear what it is. The bad thing about the name (says Amil) is that it includes the word tech, which may seem exclusive to coops, small businesses and freelancers that are not in the tech industry but believe in what we are doing and would like to join.

Not sure who suggested this one.

(User:Chris: I suggested co-operative technology or something like that after registering coops.tech and if I recall correctly it was Constance who came up with the key: changing technology to technologists, so she deserves the credit for our name.)

Mezze

The meaning behind this is that we, as a group. are essentially trying to create a Mezze. Each coop, a selection of hot plates that when merged with others alike make one big tasty dish!

Suggested by Matt C.

Flotilla

Definition - a small fleet of ships or boats.

Definition - a group moving together.

You get the idea.

Suggested by Joaquin.

Hum

Vibrations. Tech. Noise. Hum.

Not sure who suggested it.

Pool

Again, self explanatory.

Again, not sure who suggested it.

The key thing to take away from this that it is a new working title - the main aim was to ensure that 1. The Megaword did not remain the title and 2. So that other coops could be involved in naming it.
